Heritage Week

Louth County Council Library Service will be hosting a number of events in Dundalk and Carlingford during this year’s Heritage Week, which runs from 15 – 23 August 2026.
First up on Saturday 15 August, join Rosana Cooney in Dundalk Library at 3pm. Rosanna is the author of “Sweathouse: The New and Ancient Irish Sauna Tradition” and discover the fascinating history behind Irish saunas.

Saving our Seeds: Saving Our Heritage is an information session taking place in Dundalk Library on Tuesday 18 August at 11am.

The event will give attendees the skills to save seeds from their garden, store them safely and use them to create new plants each year, giving food security and control over where your seeds come from.

A traditional music performance with acclaimed tradition musician and cultural advocate Brendan McCreanor takes place in Carlingford Library on Saturday 22 August from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. The event is free and all are welcome to attend.
