The Department of Agriculture, in conjunction with the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment and key stakeholders, has organised a series of six farm hazardous waste collection days across the country this autumn.

For County Louth, the collection will take place at Ardee Livestock Sales on Wednesday, 23rd September, operating from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Important Guidelines & Requirements

Farmers attending the collection point must note that a herd number or equivalent Department registration will be strictly required upon entry. Furthermore, waste cannot be dropped off in advance.

National Environmental Context

These collections form part of the continued implementation of the Environmental Protection Agency’s National Hazardous Waste Management Plan 2021-2027. Building on strong engagement from previous years—which saw an impressive 207,000kg of hazardous waste collected during the 2025 collection days—these initiatives provide a vital, safe disposal route for Irish agriculture.
