HSE Dublin and North East is actively calling on eligible service users across Louth and Meath to take part in the nationwide survey, which aims to identify what is working well in inpatient mental health care and highlight areas requiring improvement.

Those eligible to participate include individuals discharged from the Department of Psychiatry at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda between April and July 2026. Official invitations have been dispatched by post, allowing participants to complete the survey online via an included QR code or return their responses via Freepost.

What the Survey Covers

The comprehensive questionnaire features 66 questions covering all key stages of a person’s hospital experience, including admission procedures, care and treatment plans, staff interactions, discharge processes, and follow-up support. Participation is entirely voluntary, confidential, and anonymous.

Leadership Encourages Participation

Dervila Eyres, IHA Manager with HSE Dublin and North East, emphasised the value of patient feedback in driving regional service enhancement.

“We know that people’s experiences of care can offer important insight into how services can continue to improve. If you have received an invitation to this survey, we would strongly encourage you to take a few minutes to complete it,” Ms Eyres said.

Minister for Mental Health Mary Butler noted that learning directly from people with lived experience remains central to reforming mental health services nationwide, while Mental Health Commission Chief Executive John Farrelly described the nationwide study as a “significant step forward”.

Carried out across 35 adult acute approved centres nationwide, all responses will be fully anonymised and compiled into a national report scheduled for publication in 2027.
